A Beaumont man claims he suffered injuries to his head, neck, back, right hip, right shoulder and body when a car caused him to fall on his motorcycle.
Loronza Patterson filed a lawsuit Sept. 23 in Jefferson County District Court against Hugh Prewitt.
Patterson alleges he drove his motorcycle west on Washington Street in Beaumont on Jan. 22, 2009, when Prewitt, who drove east in the westbound lanes on the same street, caused the accident.
"Plaintiff, Loronza Patterson, who was on his motorcycle, had to take evasive action to keep from colliding head on with Defendant's, Hugh Prewitt, vehicle, and laid his motorcycle down on the road and crashed," the suit states.
In addition to his numerous injuries, Patterson incurred medical costs, experienced physical pain and mental anguish and endured physical impairment because of the accident, according to the complaint. He also lost wages, the complaint says.
Patterson blames Prewitt for causing the collision, saying he negligently failed to maintain proper control of the vehicle, failed to timely apply his brakes, failed to maintain a proper lookout, failed to stay alert and failed to stay in his lane of traffic.
In his complaint, Patterson seeks an unspecified judgment and exemplary damages, plus interest at the legal rate, costs and other relief the court deems just.

The case has been assigned to Judge Bob Wortham, 58th District Court.
