Nederland woman sues over auto collision

A Nederland woman has filed suit against the driver who she claims struck her vehicle.

Kristin Moss claims she was driving north on Highway 347 when she was struck by defendant Crystal Cherie Douthitt on April 23.

Because of the accident, Moss incurred medical costs, suffered mental anguish and disfigurement and lost wages, according to the complaint filed Sept. 13 in Jefferson County District Court. In addition, she experienced pain and suffering, the suit states.

Douthitt negligently failed to control her speed, drove too fast, failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to keep a safe distance, failed to swerve to avoid a collision, failed to bring the vehicle she was driving to a stop before the accident and failed to timely apply the brakes, the complaint says. In addition, Douthitt drove carelessly, according to the complaint.

In her suit, Moss is seeking actual damages, plus pre- and post-judgment interest, costs and other relief to which she may be entitled.

Jason L. Cansler of Brent Coon and Associates in Beaumont will be representing her.

The case has been assigned to Judge Gary Sanderson, 60th District Court.
