Homeowner claims roofer failed to provide inspection certificate

GALVESTON - A Galveston County woman alleges a roofing business failed to promptly provide her with windstorm insurance and now seeks $20,000 in damages, recent court documents say.

Denise Glaze filed a lawsuit against A1 Roofing & Siding Co. on Oct. 7 in Galveston County District Court.

According to the suit, A1 Roofing performed repairs on the roof of Glaze's residence on Jan. 3, 2009. She claims the company promised to provide a certificate that the structure had been erected, altered and/or repaired in accordance with construction requirements needed to obtain windstorm coverage.

Glaze insists that she has paid in accordance to a December 2008 agreement, but A1 "refuses and continues to have a windstorm inspection performed on her roof."

"Due to the defendant's refusal to give Ms. Glaze a windstorm inspection she is no longer able to obtain windstorm coverage until she is provided with an inspection," the original petition says.

She is represented by attorney Kenneth C. Kaye of League City.

Galveston County 212th District Court Judge Susan Criss is presiding over the case.
