Latest Hurricane Ike-related insurance suits filed in Jefferson County

A total of six new lawsuits have been filed against insurance companies in Jefferson County District Court, Sept. 27-Oct. 1.

The following complaints have been filed:

  • Mary and Roy Cormier of 2225 Basin St. in Beaumont allege Capitol County Mutual Fire Insurance Company failed to pay the full benefits of their insurance policy after Hurricane Ike struck their property on Sept. 13, 2008. The Cormiers will be represented by John Pat Parsons of the Lindsay Law Firm in Beaumont. Jefferson County District Court case number: B188-465.

  • John Davenport of 912 Southwind St. in Port Arthur alleges Fidelty National Property and Casualty Insurance Company improperly placed, adjusted and mishandled his claim for damages caused to his property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. Davenport will be represented by Bill L. Voss and Scott G. Hunziker of The Voss Law Firm in The Woodlands. Jefferson County District Court case number: A188-471.

  • Viola and Terry Gibson of 1108 Euclid St. in Beaumont allege Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied their claim for damages caused to their property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. The Gibsons will be represented by Scott Renick of Beaumont and by Kenneth W. Lewis of Bush Lewis in Beaumont. Jefferson County District Court case number: E188-476.

  • James Pitre as attorney in fact for Mary Pitre of 11406 E. Hamshire Road in Hamshire alleges State Farm Lloyds did not timely investigate or pay Mary Pitre for damages caused to her home after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. Pitre will be represented by E. Hart Green of Weller, Green, Toups and Terrell in Beaumont. Jefferson County District Court case number: E188-478.

  • James D. and Catherine Shoemaker of 128 Rosine Belmount in Beaumont allege Standard Guaranty Insurance Company and American Reliable Insurance Company denied their claim for damages caused to their property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. The Shoemakers will be represented by Clint Brasher and Joe Muckleroy of Beaumont. Jefferson County District Court case number: B188-481.

  • Barbara and Jimmy Thomas of 1820 Lela St. in Beaumont allege National Lloyds Insurance Company denied their claim for damages caused to their property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. The Thomases will be represented by Scott Renick and Kenneth W. Lewis of Beaumont. Jefferson County District Court case number: D188-475.
