A Harris County woman claims she sustained injuries during a collision with a driver who ran a red light.

Dana Lewis filed a lawsuit Nov. 1 in Jefferson County District Court against Tarneshia Dearmon.

Lewis claims she drove east on Gladys Avenue in Beaumont on Dec. 15, 2009, when Dearmon, who drove north on Dowlen Road at its intersection with Gladys, failed to stop at a red light and struck Lewis' vehicle.

Because of the accident, in addition to her injuries, Lewis incurred medical costs; experienced pain, suffering and mental anguish; and lost wages, according to the complaint. In addition, she sustained physical impairment and lost her household services, the suit states.

She blames Dearmon for causing the collision, saying Dearmon negligently ran a red light, failed to control her speed, failed to maintain a proper lookout, failed to timely apply her brakes, failed to drive safely and failed to maintain control of her vehicle, the complaint says.

In her complaint, Lewis seeks an unspecified judgment, plus pre- and post-judgment interest at the highest rate allowed by law, costs and other relief the court deems just.

Tommy L. Yeates of Moore Landrey in Beaumont will be representing her.

Judge Donald Floyd, 172nd District Court, has been assigned to the case.
