Tyler airport worker sues claiming he was not properly paid

MARSHALL-A Mt. Vernon resident has filed a lawsuit against his former employer in an effort to obtain overtime pay.

Claiming violations of the Fair Labor Standards Act, Michael Sanders filed suit against JW Jetcorp, Ltd., doing business as Jet Center of Tyler, and J.W. Rogers on Nov. 7 in the Eastern District of Texas, Marshall Division.

Jet Center of Tyler is located at Tyler Pounds Regional Airport and is a fixed base operator that provides a number of services to aircraft owners and pilots, including a lounge for pilots and passengers, and an on- site car rental agency.

Sanders claims he was not paid for time that he spent working at the beginning of his work day and for time spent working during his unpaid meal break. He claims that the defendant intentionally failed to pay him for his off the clock work and work performed during his unpaid meal break.

The plaintiff is seeking damages for unpaid wages, liquidated damages authorized by applicable statutes, court costs and attorney's fees.

Sanders is represented by Tyler attorney William S. Hommel Jr. Jury trial is requested.

U.S. District Judge T. John Ward is assigned to the case.
