Arthur Culpepper is suing his former employer, Big Assets, alleging he was fired for filing a claim for workers' compensation.
The suit was filed Dec. 2 in Jefferson County District Court.
According to the petition, Culpepper was injured while on the job July 12. The suit does not describe his injuries or how he was injured.
"Plaintiff pursued his rights under Texas Worker's Compensation law and sought medical treatment and attempted to follow the medical restrictions imposed by his treating doctors," the suit states.
"In response, plaintiff was demoted by defendant and ordered to do work beyond his medical restrictions. Defendant then terminated plaintiff."
Culpepper claims he was unlawfully discharged for seeking worker's comp.
He is suing for lost wages and emotional pain.
Beaumont attorney Ken Lewis of Bush Lewis represents him.
Judge Milton Shuffield, 136th District Court, has been assigned to the case.
