Neff Bros. dismissed from property damage suit

A case against Neff Brothers Automotive has been disposed, as plaintiff Southwestern Bell Telephone recently settled with the company.

Southwestern Bell filed a lawsuit March 11 in Jefferson County District Court against Neff Brothers, formerly known as Neff Brothers Recovery, claiming the towing company cut through its cable, causing more than $12,000 in repair costs.

On Sept. 16 Southwestern Bell filed a motion to dismiss with prejudice, stating the parties had compromised and reached a settlement.

Judge Bob Wortham, 58th District Court, granted the motion on Sept. 22, disposing of the case.

In its suit, Southwestern Bell claims Neff Brothers hit an aerial cable causing severe damage while entering a drive at P100 to P400 in Vidor, causing it to replace the entire cable.

Southwestern Bell had to spend more than $12,495.42 to repair the cable, according to the complaint.

The company alleged negligence and trespass against Neff Brothers.

Tracey N. Ellison and Debra D. Hovnatanian of Ellison and Keller in Houston represented Southwestern Bell.
