East Texas rental company sued for allowing hostile work environment

LUFKIN-An East Texas company is being sued by an employee for allowing a sexual hostile working environment.

Ana Grant filed suit against Aarons Inc., doing business as Aaron's Sales & Lease Ownership, on Dec. 27 in the Eastern District of Texas, Lufkin Division.

According to lawsuit, the defendant has engaged in unlawful employment practices at its Crockett facility since at least Dec. 26, 2009. Grant alleges the defendant's general manager, sales manager and two other employees subjected her to a sexually hostile working environment.

Further, she claims the associated work-related harassment caused her extreme emotional distress.

The defendant is accused of depriving Grant of her civil rights and for violating Texas tort laws.

The plaintiff is asking the court for an award of back pay, loss of fringe benefits, loss of future earnings, lost benefits, emotional distress, metal anxiety, loss of reputation, humiliation, punitive damages, front pay, attorney's fees, litigation expenses, costs and interest.

Grant is represented by Lufkin attorney Charles R. Dendy.

A jury trial is requested.
