Latest Hurricane Ike-related insurance suits filed in Jefferson County

A total of six new lawsuits against insurance companies over Hurricane Ike damage claims were filed in Jefferson County District Court, Jan. 10-14, 2011.

The following complaints were filed:

  • Broussard's Mortuary of Beaumont alleges Federated Mutual Insurance Company ignored or denied its claims for damages caused to its property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. Broussard's will be represented by E. Hart Green of Weller, Green, Toups and Terrell in Beaumont. Jefferson County District Court case number: E189-159.

  • Juan Galvan of 5121 Sixth St. in Port Arthur alleges Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied his claim for damages caused to his property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. Galvan will be represented by Rocky Lawdermilk of Beaumont. Jefferson County District Court case number: B189-161.

  • Luis Garcia and Maria Valencia of 2033 11th Ave. in Port Arthur allege Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied their claim for structure, contents, foundation, roof, water and wind damages caused to their property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. TWIA denied the claim after assigning Brush Country Claims and adjuster Shannon Smith to investigate. Garcia and Valencia will be represented by Michael R. Ramsey of The Mostyn Law Firm in Beaumont. Jefferson County District Court case number: D189-099.

  • Linda Keller of 4630 Laredo St. in Beaumont alleges National Lloyds Insurance Company denied damages caused to her rental property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. Keller will be represented by John Pat Parsons of the Lindsay Law Firm in Beaumont. Jefferson County District Court case number: A189-162.

  • Mildred Lewis of 4330 Booker St. in Beaumont alleges State Farm Lloyds denied her claim for roof and water damages caused to her property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. Lewis will be represented by Carlos E. Solis and Paul A. Smith Jr. of Solis and Smith in San Antonio and by Danny R. Scott Jr. of Beaumont. Jefferson County District Court case number: A189-085.

  • Brandon and Victoria Miller of 2303 Cox St. in Port Arthur allege Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied their claim for foundation, structure, roof, water and wind damages caused to their property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. TWIA denied the claim after it assigned Allied American Adjusting Company and adjusters Kevin Phillips and Donald Clark to investigate, according to the complaint. The Millers will be represented by Michael R. Ramsey of The Mostyn Law Firm in Beaumont. Jefferson County District Court case number: D189-156.
