Federal Express employee Dwain Landry has filed suit against Port Arthur residents Sandra and Butch Haas, claiming the couple's dogs attacked him while delivering packages.

The suit was filed Feb. 1 in Jefferson County District Court.

According to his petition, on Sept. 23 Landry was delivering mail to the couple's residence when "he was attacked by dogs."

"As a result of said attack, plaintiff suffered serious injuries, both physical and emotional, for which he now sues," the suit states.

In his suit, Landry claims the defendants new of the dogs' vicious nature, since one of the dogs had bitten another individual in the past.

Landry is seeking to recover exemplary damages for his alleged physical and mental injuries.

Provost Umphrey attorney Matthew Matheny of Beaumont represents him.

Judge Gary Sanderson, 63rd District Court, has been assigned to the case.

Case No. B189-290
