Latest Hurricane Ike-related insurance suits filed in Jefferson County

A total of seven new lawsuits against insurance companies over Hurricane Ike damage claims were filed in Jefferson County District Court, Jan. 31-Feb. 4, 2011.

The following complaints were filed:

  • Automatic Pump and Equipment Co. of Beaumont allege Tokio Marine and Nichido Fire Insurance and The Talon Insurance Agency denied its claim for loss of business income after it was forced to evacuate during Hurricanes Gustav and Ike struck in August and September 2008. Automatic will be represented by Mitchell A. Toups of Weller, Green, Toups and Terrell in Beaumont. Jefferson County District Court case number: D189-302.

  • Eastex Square of 4355 Eastex Freeway in Houston alleges Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied its claim for roof and water damages caused to its property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. Eastex Square will be represented by Carlos E. Solis and Paul A. Smith Jr. of Solis and Smith in San Antonio and by Danny R. Scott Jr. of the Law Office of Danny R. Scott Jr. in Beaumont. Jefferson County District Court case number: E189-309.

  • Jay Forster of 9510 Shepherd in Beaumont alleges Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied his claim for windstorm damages after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. Forster will be represented by John S. Morgan of Harris, Duesler and Hatfield in Beaumont. Jefferson County District Court case number: A189-312.

  • Felicia and Anthony Jones of 1426 W. Fifth St. in Port Arthur allege Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied their claim for contents, foundation and structure damages caused to their property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. TWIA denied their claim after it assigned Allied American Adjusting Company to investigate, according to the complaint. The Jones will be represented by Michael R. Ramsey of The Mostyn Law Firm in Beaumont. Jefferson County District Court case number: E189-289.

  • Sammie and Beverly Jones of 2535 East 11th St. in Port Arthur allege Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied their claim for living expenses and foundation, structural, roof, water and wind damages caused to their property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. TWIA denied the claim after it assigned All-Tech Claims Management and adjuster Rhett Lee to investigate. The Jones will be represented by Michael R. Ramsey of The Mostyn Law Firm. Jefferson County District Court case number: D189-303.

  • Floyd Olbrych of 9445 Gardner St. in Beaumont alleges Texas Farmers Insurance Company denied his claim for living expenses and contents, roof, structural, water and wind damages caused to his property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. Olbrych will be represented by J. Steve Mostyn of The Mostyn Law Firm in Houston. Jefferson County District Court case number: E189-297.

  • True Southern Real Estate of 540 Dewey in Beaumont alleges Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied its claim for dwelling damages caused to its property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. True Southern will be represented by Rocky Lawdermilk of Beaumont. Jefferson County District Court case number: A189-306.
