Water in seafood aisle leads to slip-and-fall suit against HEB

GALVESTON – Friendswood resident Laura Brower has filed suit against H.E.B. Grocery Co. LP after she slipped on a pool of water at its Friendswood store last April.

Brower hurt herself on April 3 when she made her way through the frozen seafood aisle, a lawsuit filed Feb. 22 in Galveston County District Court says.

The plaintiff claims that she was unable to see the puddle, which reportedly caused her to fall and severely injure herself.

"Following the accident, the plaintiff was able to assess the size of the pool which was large and clearly would have had to accumulate over a substantial time period and should have been noticeable to any and all of the defendant's employees working during the period of time preceding the incident in question," the original petition says.

Consequently, Brower seeks unspecified monetary damages and a jury trial.

She is represented by attorney Ronald L. Bair of Houston.

The case has been assigned to Galveston County 405th District Court Judge Wayne Mallia.
