Seeking to recover benefits paid for an auto collision, Progressive County Mutual Insurance has filed suit against Orange resident Brandon Bibbins.

The suit was filed March 8 in Jefferson County District Court.

Court records show that on March 13, 2009, Willis Patterson, an individual insured by Progressive, was crossing the intersection at St. Louis and Basin in Beaumont when Bibbins allegedly "failed to maintain a proper lookout" and caused a collision.

The suit does not state how exactly the collision between Patterson and Bibbins occurred.

"As a direct result of defendant's negligence, insured's property was damages in the amount of $3,202.25.

The plaintiff is for actual damages and court costs.

Progressive is represented by Richardson attorney Patrick Clerkin.

Judge Milton Shuffield, 136th District Court, has been assigned to the case.
