Latest Hurricane Ike-related insurance suits filed in Jefferson County

A total of six new lawsuits against insurance companies over Hurricane Ike damage claims have been filed in Jefferson County District Court, March 14-18, 2011.

The following complaints have been filed:

  • Ronald and Tammy Bassett of 2190 Basin St. in Beaumont allege Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied their claim for roof and water damages caused to their home after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. The Bassetts will be represented by Carlos E. Solis and Paul A. Smith Jr. of Solis and Smith in San Antonio and by Danny R. Scott Jr. of Beaumont. Jefferson County District Court case number: D189-617.

  • James Cloud and David Matthews of 2460 Pecos St. in Beaumont allege Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied their claim for foundation, structure, roof, water and wind damages caused to their property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. Cloud and Matthews will be represented by Michael R. Ramsey of The Mostyn Law Firm in Beaumont. Jefferson County District Court case number: D189-603.

  • Steven and Connie McKinney of 4501 Boyt Rd. in Beaumont allege Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied their claim for roof and water damages caused to their property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. The McKinneys will be represented by Carlos E. Solis and Paul A. Smith Jr. of Solis and Smith in San Antonio and by Danny R. Scott Jr. of Beaumont. Jefferson County District Court case number: E189-614.

  • Port of Port Arthur Navigation District of Jefferson County alleges Lexington Insurance Company denied its claim for damages caused to various piling clusters at their dock between March 19, 2009, and April 15, 2009. Lexington denied the claims after assigning McLarens Young International and adjusters Bills Adams and Chris Macey to investigate, according to the complaint. Port of Port Arthur Navigation District of Jefferson County will be represented by Rocky Lawdermilk of Beaumont. Jefferson County District Court case number: B189-619.

  • Reginald and Dawn Savoie of 5531 Cambridge St. in Port Arthur allege Texas Windstorm Insurance Association minimized their claim for damages caused to their property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. TWIA minimized the claim after it assigned Brush Country Claim and adjuster Drew Jackson to investigate, according to the complaint. The Savoies will be represented by John Pat Parsons of Lindsay, Lindsay, and Parsons in Beaumont and by David Cade Bernsen of The Bernsen Law Firm in Beaumont. Jefferson County District Court case number: A189-604.

  • Clarence and Avaland Thomas of 5159 Lakeside Drive in Port Arthur allege Fire Insurance Exchange denied their claim for contents, structure, roof, water and wind damages caused to their property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. The Thomases will be represented by J. Steve Mostyn of The Mostyn Law Firm in Houston. Jefferson County District Court case number: D189-608.
