Woman seeks $90K for injuries from collision

GALVESTON After reportedly sustaining injuries to her neck, shoulder and back as a result of a collision in Katy last March, Dickinson resident Kathy Denise Spells seeks $90,000 from Yamil Rodriguez and Ted Diaz.

Spells claims a vehicle owned by Diaz and driven by Rodriguez struck the passenger's side of the automobile in which she was riding on the afternoon of March 21, 2010, a lawsuit filed March 18 in Galveston County District Court says.

The original petition asserts Rodriguez created the impact "suddenly and without notice" by speeding and failing to yield the right of way at a stop sign.

Spells states that her injuries required steroid injections.

In addition to $90,000, a jury trial is requested.

The Pinkerton Law Firm PLLC is representing the plaintiff, and Galveston County 405th District Court Judge Wayne Mallia is presiding over the case.
