Hoping to recoup its costs, Progressive County Mutual Insurance has filed suit against two local women who allegedly caused an automobile collision with one of its insured.

The petition was filed March 28 in Jefferson County District Court and names Tyronza Walker and Odessa Kirby as defendants.

According to the lawsuit, on July 17, 2009, Progressive policyholder Justin Landry was traveling through the intersection at Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway and Pipkin Street when Walker allegedly caused an automobile collision, forcing the company to pay $3,111 in damages.

The suit accuses Walker of negligently failing to keep a proper lookout and also accuses Kirby of negligently entrusting her vehicle to Walker.

Progressive seeks to recover actual damages and all court costs.

Richardson attorney Patrick Clerkin represents the company

Judge Milton Shuffield, 136th District Court, has been assigned to the case.
