Mother, children sue over auto collision

A mother and her three minor children have filed suit against a woman they claim failed to yield the right of way and struck them two years ago.

Individually and on behalf of her children, Jacquelynn Orr filed suit against Brandi Miller on March 30 in Jefferson County District Court.

Court records show that on April 3, 2009, Orr and her children were traveling on Nederland Avenue when Miller allegedly "failed to yield the right of way when exiting a private drive and slammed into plaintiffs' vehicle."

The suit continues by also accusing Miller of negligently failing to keep a proper lookout and apply her brakes in a timely manner.

The plaintiffs are suing for their alleged past and future medical expenses, mental anguish, pain, impairment, disfigurement and lost wages, plus all court costs.

Beaumont attorney Jonathan Juhan represents them.

Judge Milton Shuffield, 136th District Court, has been assigned to the case.

Case No. D189-672
