Latest Hurricane Ike-related insurance suits filed in Jefferson County

A total of six new lawsuits against insurance companies over Hurricane Ike damage claims were filed in Jefferson County District Court, May 23-27, 2011.

The following complaints were filed:

  • Mario T. and Maria Elena Espinola of 3407 32nd St. in Port Arthur allege Fire Insurance Exchange denied their claim for roof, contents, structural, water and wind damages caused to their property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. The Espinolas will be represented by J. Steve Mostyn of The Mostyn Law Firm in Houston. Jefferson County District Court case number: E190-104.

  • Jessie and Glenda Fisher of 2949 19th St. in Port Arthur allege Fire Insurance Exchange denied their claim for contents, structure, roof, water and wind damages caused to their property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. The Fishers will be represented by J. Steve Mostyn of The Mostyn Law Firm in Houston. Jefferson County District Court case number: E190-105.

  • Chaddrick and Brenda Jack of 6085 Windsong St. in Beaumont allege Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied a portion of their claim for roof and water damages caused to their property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. The Jacks will be represented by Carlos E. Solis and Paul A. Smith Jr. of Solis and Smith in San Antonio and by Danny R. Scott Jr. of Beaumont. Jefferson County District Court case number: E190-135.

  • Samuel Joseph Sr. of 3101 19th St. in Port Arthur alleges Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied a portion of his claim for roof and water damages caused to his property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. Joseph will be represented by Jason B. Speights, Todd A. Worrich and Joan M. Marron of Speights Law Firm in San Antonio. Jefferson County District Court case number: A190-077.

  • Clara A. Spencer-Broussard and Gary Broussard of 8480 Washington Blvd. in Beaumont allege Standard Guaranty Insurance Company minimized their claim for damages caused to their property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. Standard Guaranty minimized the Broussards' claim after it hired Assurant to investigate, according to the complaint. The Broussards will be represented by John Pat Parsons of Lindsay, Lindsay and Parsons in Beaumont. Jefferson County District Court case number: D190-082.

  • Joy Wallace of 2520 Louisiana St. in Beaumont alleges State Farm Lloyds denied her claim for contents, roof, structure, water and wind damages caused to her property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. Wallce will be represented by J. Steve Mostyn of The Mostyn Law Firm in Beaumont. Jefferson County District Court case number: B190-080.
