Intersection collision results in suit

Several area residents are in litigation over a motor vehicle collision that occurred two years ago.

Andrew and Sylvia Petry filed suit against David Wiggins and Linda Bonton on June 7 in Jefferson County District Court.

Court records show that on June 24, 2009, the Petrys were traveling north on U.S. Highway 69 and entering the intersection at the 34th Street in Port Arthur when Wiggins, driving a vehicle owned by Bonton, entered the intersection and struck them.

The suit faults Wiggins for negligently failing to keep a proper lookout and also blames Bonton for negligently entrusting her vehicle to him.

The plaintiffs are suing for their alleged past and future medical expenses, mental anguish, pain, impairment, disfigurement and lost wages, plus all court costs.

Port Arthur attorney Gordon Friesz of McPherson, Hughes, Bradley, Wimberley, Steele & Chatelain represents them.

Judge Gary Sanderson, 6oth District Court, has been assigned to the case.
