Wreck on Concord Road subject of lawsuit

A Beaumont woman claims she sustained severe pain in her neck, back, shoulder and right leg after a driver rear-ended her vehicle.

Linda Alexander filed a lawsuit June 3 in Jefferson County District Court against Lorena and Maria Perez.

In her complaint, Alexander alleges she drove on Concord Road and stopped for turning traffic on June 23, 2009, when Lorena Perez, who drove a vehicle belonging to Maria Perez, failed to control her speed and slammed into the rear of Alexander's vehicle.

According to the complaint, in addition to her injuries, Alexander incurred medical costs and lost earnings and her earning capacity. She also sustained physical impairment, physical pain and mental anguish and incurred property damages, the suit states.

Alexander blames Lorena Perez for causing the collision, saying she negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to timely apply her brakes and failed to control her speed, the complaint says.

In her complaint, Alexander seeks an unspecified judgment, plus pre-judgment interest, costs and other relief the court deems just.

Jonathan C. Juhan of Beaumont will be representing her.

Judge Milton Shuffield, 136th District Court, has been assigned to the case.
