A Jefferson County man has filed a petition for deposition against a woman who he claims made defamatory remarks about him.
Lawrence Leger claims Susan Renee Stansbury made defamatory remarks against him that have caused him personal and professional damages.
According to the petition filed July 18 in Jefferson County District Court, Leger wants to depose Stansbury to determine the extent of the defamatory remarks she made before he files suit against her.
"Said information will enable Petitioner to adequately investigate his potential claims against Ms. Stansbury," the suit states.
In addition to an oral deposition, Leger is seeking other relief the court deems just.
He will be represented by Chris M. Portner and J. Trenton Bond of Portner and Bond in Beaumont.
The case has been assigned to Judge Gary Sanderson, 60th District Court.
