Plant worker Ricardo Salazar has filed suit against ISP Synthetic Elastomers, alleging a rotten catwalk caused him to fall 15 feet.
The suit was filed Aug. 31 in Jefferson County District Court.
According to the lawsuit, on Feb. 23 Salazar, a Gulf Copper employee, was working at ISP's facility in Port Neches. He states he was walking across a wooden catwalk to do welding when he fell approximately 15 feet, injuring his back, neck, arms, chest and hips.
In his suit, Salazar alleges the catwalk was rotten and ISP negligently failed to provide him with a safe place to work.
He is suing for his alleged past and future medical expenses, mental anguish, pain, impairment, disfigurement and lost wages, plus all court costs.
Beaumont attorney Jane Leger of Provost Umphrey represents him.
Judge Bob Wortham, 58th District Court, has been assigned to the case.
