Collapsed wall leads man to sue Hacienda Apartments

A tenant at the Hacienda Apartments has filed suit against the complex's owner, alleging a wall collapsed on him.

Ronald Lastice filed the suit against Rayford Maddux on Sept. 8 in Jefferson County District Court.

According to the lawsuit, on Aug. 28 Lastice was injured when a portion of his apartment wall collapsed.

The suit does not state how the wall collapsed or what Lastice was doing at the time.

However, the suit does allege that Maddux negligently failed to inspect the premises and correct any defects that might cause tenants harm.

The plaintiff is suing for his alleged past and future medical expenses, mental anguish, pain, impairment, disfigurement and lost wages, plus all court costs.

Beaumont attorney Adam Terrel of the Weller, Green, Toups & Terrell law firm represents him.

Judge Bob Wortham, 58th District Court, has been assigned to the case.
