No stranger to litigation, Starvin Marvin's Bar & Grill, which is currently locked in litigation with the city of Beaumont over a noise ordinance, is now on the receiving end of a lawsuit.
Hardin County resident Patricia Robertson filed suit against the restaurant on Oct. 24 in Jefferson County District Court, alleging she slipped and fell while dining at the establishment.
According to the lawsuit, the incident occurred on Sept. 4 when Robertson slipped on water dripping from an overhead pipe.
"The water on the floor was impossible to see," the suit states. "There were no warning signs notifying plaintiff and the other customers of this water."
Robertson is suing for her alleged past and future medical expenses, mental anguish, pain, impairment, disfigurement and lost wages, plus all court costs.
Her husband Ronald, who is also a plaintiff in the suit, is suing for loss of consortium damages.
Houston attorney James Simmons represents them.
Judge Donald Floyd, 172nd District Court, is assigned to the case.
