Suit filed over auto crash

A man claims he incurred medical costs after a driver struck his vehicle.

Huey Walter Sr. filed a lawsuit Dec. 12 in Jefferson County District Court against Mary Andrea Young.

In his complaint, Walter alleges Young struck him after she failed to stop for halted traffic on July 30, 2010.

In addition to his medical costs, Walter experienced physical pain, suffering, mental anguish, physical impairment and disfigurement and lost wages because of the collision, according to the complaint.

He blames Young for causing the collision, saying she negligently failed to maintain a proper lookout, failed to timely apply her brakes, failed to yield, failed to keep a proper distance between her vehicle and Walter's and failed to turn to avoid a collision.

Walter is seeking an unspecified judgment, plus interest at the legal rate, costs and other relief the court deems just.

John S. Morgan of Harris, Duesler and Hatfield in Beaumont will be rerpesenting him.

Judge Gary Sanderson, 60th District Court, has been assigned to the case.
