Suit alleges woman lost control of her vehicle, caused collision

Area resident Florencia Corne has filed suit against Nederland local Kayla Harris, alleging Harris lost control of her vehicle and caused a collision two years ago.

The suit was filed Feb. 1 in Jefferson County District Court.

Court records show that on Feb. 26, 2010, Corne was injured when Harris allegedly lost control of her speed and lost control of her vehicle, causing an automobile collision.

The suit does not state where the incident occurred.

However, the suit does accuse the defendant of negligently failing to keep a proper lookout and maintain a safe distance between vehicles.

The plaintiff is suing for her alleged past and future medical expenses, mental anguish, pain, impairment, disfigurement and lost wages, plus all court costs.

Beaumont attorney Chris Portner of Portner Bond represents her.

Judge Milton Shuffield, 136th District Court, is assigned to the case.
