Hardin County man sues employer after injuring ankle on boat

Kebodeaux

A Hardin County resident has filed a Jones Act lawsuit against his employer after he suffered an ankle injury while being transported from a vessel to the shore.

Larry W. Turner Jr. filed suit against National Response Corp., DRC Emergency Services, U.S. Environmental Services, International Offshore Services, International Construction Group, Strad Energy Services USA Ltd. and Brett J. Boudreaux on Jan. 18 in Hardin County District Court. The defendant removed the case to the Eastern District of Texas, Beaumont Division on Feb. 10.

The incident occurred on Oct. 6, 2010, while Turner was working onboard the IOS Pipeliner. During a transport from the vessel to the shore, Turner states that he fractured his ankle when he was thrown to the floor of the vessel.

According to the lawsuit, the transport vessel did not have handrails and Turner was required to stand due to inadequate seating.

Turner states that he was injured due to the negligence of the defendants and the unseaworthiness of the vessel and its transport vessel.

The plaintiff is asking for an award of damages for medical expenses, loss of wages, loss of wage earning capacity, physical pain and suffering, mental anguish, physical impairment, maintenance and cure, disfigurement, punitive damages, interest, and attorney's fees.

A jury trial is requested.

Turner is represented by Casey H. Hargroder and Keith Kebodeaux of Kebodeaux & Hargroder in Beaumont.
