League City resident sues over rear-end collision

GALVESTON - League City resident Elda G. Salinas has filed suit over a multiple-vehicle collision at an intersection in her city, recent court documents say.

According to a lawsuit filed March 13 in Galveston County District Court, Marjorie M. Guillot, also of League City, caused the accident in question with Salinas and other motorists at the intersection of Lawrence Road and League City Parkway on March 31, 2011.

The original petition shows Salinas was stopped at a red light behind other vehicles when the subject event occurred.

"The defendant failed to control her speed coming up to the red light and crashed into the rear of the plaintiff, causing the plaintiff to hit the vehicle in front of her and that vehicle to hit the vehicle in front of it," the suit says.

Salinas states that suffered a sprained neck, head injury, blunt abdominal trauma and soreness to her back and ribs as well as injuries to both knees as a result of the alleged pileup.

Guillot is blamed for failing to stop at a red light, failing to timely apply the brakes, failing to maintain a proper lookout, failing to maintain proper control of the vehicle and operating said vehicle at a rate of speed greater than that allowed by law.

Consequently, the plaintiff seeks unspecified monetary damages.

She is represented by attorney Gary Lee of Houston.

The case has been assigned to Galveston County 212th District Court Judge Susan Criss.
