Stop sign runner sued for causing wreck

Lumberton resident Tessa Montelaro is suing Madeline and Cathy Hegemann for injuries she received when Madeline allegedly ran a stop sign and struck her vehicle.

The suit was filed June 12 in Jefferson County District Court.

According to the lawsuit, on April 25 Montelaro was driving on Briarcliff Street in Beaumont when Madeline, who was traveling on Austin Street, ran a stop sign at the intersection and collided with the plaintiff's vehicle.

The suit accuses the Madeline of negligently failing to yield the right of way and keep a proper lookout.

Cathy is faulted for negligently entrusting her vehicle to Madeline.

The plaintiff is suing for her alleged past and future medical expenses, mental anguish, pain, impairment, disfigurement and lost wages, plus all court costs.

Beaumont attorney Karen Spivey of Pate & Spivey represents her.

Judge Bob Wortham, 58th District Court, is assigned to the case.
