Port Arthur resident Willie LaDay III is suing Maribel and Said Nechar for injuries received when the vehicle in which he was a passenger crashed into a house.
The petition was filed July 11 in Jefferson County District Court.
According to the lawsuit, on July 9, 2010, LaDay was a passenger in a vehicle driven by Said and owned by Maribel. Said was traveling on Gulfway in Port Arthur when he swerved and left the roadway, causing the vehicle to crash into a house.
The suit accuses Said of negligently failing to control his speed and keep a proper lookout. Maribel is accused of negligent entrustment.
The plaintiff is suing for actual damages, plus all court costs.
Houston attorney Ryan Fowler of the Sloan, Bagley, Hatcher & Perry Law Firm represents him.
Judge Milton Shuffield, 136th District Court, is assigned to the case.
