A Beaumont woman has filed suit against the former owners of her home, saying they failed to transfer the title in the home to her after she purchased it.
Virginia Green alleges she purchased a home on Tulane Street in Beaumont from defendant Marvin Ray Herrington.
Upon her agreement to purchase the home in June 1990, Green agreed to make a down payment of $1,290, then to make monthly payments of $180 over a period of eight years, according to the complaint filed Aug. 23 in Jefferson County District Court.
Since then, Green has made the required payments and has been living in the home, the suit states. However, Green has failed to receive title to the property even though she has made her final payments, the complaint says.
In her complaint, Green is asking the court to issue a declaratory judgment ordering that the title be delivered to her and is asking that she be declared owner of the property.
She will be represented by William Marcus Wilkerson of Beaumont.
The case has been assigned to Judge Milton Shuffield, 136th District Court.
