Discovery starts in slip & fall against Floyd’s Restaurant

Floyds

Discovery has now started in a slip and fall lawsuit against Floyd’s Cajun Seafood and Steakhouse.

As previously reported, Nederland local Cherie Owen filed suit against the restaurant on July 12 in Jefferson County District Court, alleging she slipped on slop at Floyd’s Cajun Seafood and Steakhouse.

Court records that on Sept. 19 Owen filed a certificate of discovery giving notice that she served Floyd’s with her request for production and first set of interrogatories.

The lawsuit alleges that on March 20 Owen was leaving the Floyd’s in Beaumont with her co-workers when she “slipped and fell on slippery slop” on the concrete sidewalk.

Owen alleges the restaurant owed her a duty to maintain its premises.

She is suing for her alleged past and future medical expenses, mental anguish, pain and disfigurement, plus all court costs.

Beaumont attorney Dan Ducote Jr. of Moore Landrey represents her.

Judge Gary Sanderson, 6oth District Court, is assigned to the case.

Case No. B192-673
