GALVESTON - Nearly two months after it was sued for wrongful termination, A-MED Management Inc. seeks a final summary judgment. 

Travis County resident Regina Alderete filed suit against the defendant in June on allegations it fired her for complaining about illegal activities at the workplace.

Alderete, a former community relations coordinator with the respondent, claims in court papers submitted June 25 before the Galveston County 10th District Court she was asked to commit several violations she believed went against state and federal anti-kickback and anti-solicitation laws.

When she refused to comply with an order to falsify mileage reimbursement, the defendant exposed her "to a hostile work environment through harassing behavior, bully tactics and verbal threats."

The plaintiff filed a formal complaint earlier this year only to be terminated shortly afterwards.

The defendant provided an original answer to the case.

In its motion filed Oct. 3, the company insists it "is not liable in the capacity in which it has been sued" and that Alderete "in fact... has never been employed by the defendant."

Because the plaintiff supposedly did not have an employment history with the respondent, the motion states, the suit should be dismissed with prejudice.
