SHERMAN - A hospital finance supervisor has filed an age and racial discrimination lawsuit against her former employer that claims she was retaliated against and terminated after she complained about the treatment she was receiving.

Gladys Cartridge filed suit against Aramark Healthcare Support Services on Oct. 18 in the Eastern District of Texas, Sherman Division.

Cartridge was hired by the defendant as a finance supervisor in 2000 when Aramark took over providing management services for Baylor’s hospital operations.

Prior to Aramark taking over the Baylor contract, Cartridge provided the same financial services to Baylor’s hospital operations since 1993.

In 2009, Cartridge’s general manger was replaced and she states she suffered race and age discrimination. She complained about the treatment to her supervisors.

In October 2011, she went on approved medical leave, which was scheduled for to last three months. Immediately upon her arrival back at the work, she was terminated allegedly for poor performance on a human resources audit that occurred in early August 2011.

Cartridge alleges she suffered discrimination and retaliation by Aramark because of her race and age, was subjected to interference with her entitlements under the Family Medical Leave Act, and was subjected to discrimination and retaliation by Aramark for taking medical leave protected under the Family Medical Leave Act.

The plaintiff is seeking an award of damages for back pay, front pay, compensatory damages, punitive damages, attorney’s fees, interest and court costs.

Cartridge is represented by Dallas attorney Karen D. McCloud. A jury trial is requested.

U.S. District Judge Richard A. Schell is assigned to the case.
