Man seeks money for injuries in rear-end collision

A man claims he suffered painful injuries after a driver rear-ended his vehicle.

Robert Molenda filed a lawsuit Feb. 5 in Jefferson County District Court against John T. Moore II.

In his complaint, Molenda alleges he stopped at a red light at the intersection of 11th Street and Laurel Street. Suddenly, Moore, who was driving behind Molenda, struck the back of his vehicle.

In addition to his injuries, Molenda incurred medical costs, experienced physical pain and suffering, endured physical impairment and mental anguish and incurred property damages because of the collision, according to the complaint.

Molenda blames Moore for causing the collision, saying he negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to keep a safe distance between his vehicle and Moore’s, drove too fast and failed to timely apply his brakes.

In his complaint, Molenda seeks a judgment within the jurisdictional limits of Jefferson County District Court, plus pre-judgment interest at the maximum rate allowed by law, post-judgment interest at the legal rate, costs and other relief the court deems just.

Chris M. Portner and J. Trenton Bond of Portner Bond in Beaumont will be representing him.

Judge Bob Wortham, 58th District Court, has been assigned to the case.
