A final judgment has been entered in a personal injury lawsuit against an area nail salon.
As previously reported, Port Arthur resident Martina Bush filed suit against Vinh’s Beauty & Nails on Jan. 24, 2011, in Jefferson County District Court, alleging a trip to the nail salon ended with an infection.
The final judgment was entered on Dec. 3, stating that the parties compromised and settled the suit, court papers say.
A letter in court records dated Sept. 5 shows that Vinh’s Beauty & Nails agreed to settle the claim for $5,000.
Court records show that Bush visited the Port Arthur nail salon sometime in January 2009 for a manicure.
“As a result of the treatment, Bush developed a severe infection in her right index finger,” the suit states. “Vinh’s failed to properly sanitize their nail tools between customers.”
The suit alleges Vinh’s had a duty to the public to sanitize its tools after use.
Bush was suing the company for her alleged past and future medical expenses, mental anguish, pain, impairment, disfigurement and lost wages.

Attorney Richard Hatfield of the Beaumont law firm Harris, Duesler & Hatfield represented the defendant.
Judge Donald Floyd, 172nd District Court, presided over the case.
