A Beaumont woman has filed suit against the driver who she claims failed to yield the right-of-way at a stop sign, causing a collision.
Barbara Louis claims she was driving in Beaumont on June 24, 2011, when defendant Xanth Menard failed to yield the right-of-way at a stop sign and struck his vehicle.
Because of the collision, Louis incurred medical costs, experienced physical pain and suffering, endured mental anguish and physical impairment and suffered disfigurement, according to the complaint filed May 29 in Jefferson County District Court. She also lost wages and her earning capacity, the suit states.
Menard negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to come to a stop before striking Louis’s vehicle, failed to timely apply his brakes to avoid a collision, drove too fast, failed to keep proper control of her vehicle and failed to yield the right-of-way at a stop sign, the complaint says.
In her complaint, Louis is seeking an unspecified judgment, plus interest at the legal rate, costs and other relief the court deems just.
