Woman files lawsuit following collision

A woman claims she suffered right leg, back and knee pain following a collision.

Lisa Anderson filed a lawsuit June 21 in Jefferson County District Court against Joseph Broussard and Edward Pace.

In her complaint, Anderson alleges she rode in a vehicle Lynn Freeman was driving on Aug. 15, 2012. As Freeman stopped at a red light at the intersection of Washington Boulevard and Irving Street, Broussard failed to control his speed and struck her vehicle, according to the complaint.

In addition to her pain, Anderson experienced injuries, incurred medical costs and endured physical pain and suffering, the suit states.

Anderson blames Broussard for causing the collision, saying he negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to timely apply his brakes, failed to control his speed, failed to avoid an accident and failed to drive as a reasonable person would have done.

In addition to Broussard, Anderson names Pace as a defendant, saying he negligently entrusted his vehicle to Broussard.

In her complaint, Anderson is seeking a judgment in excess of the minimum jurisdictional limits of Jefferson County District Court, plus pre- and post-judgment interest at the highest legal interest rate, actual damages and other relief the court deems just.

Ryan Douglas White of Loncar and Associates in Beaumont will be representing her.

The case has been assigned to Judge Gary Sanderson, 60th District Court.

Case No. B194-465
