Company seeks payment of settlement filed in California court

Packard

A company has filed notice of filing of foreign judgment against the company that it claims owes it money from settlement proceeds.

David Packard, the Packard Packard & Lapray law firm and John Hock claim a settlement between them and defendant Trigem America Corp. was entered into in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in the Central District of California on March 29, 2011. Under the settlement, court documents would have to be filed in a Texas court so that the plaintiffs could receive their proceeds, according to the complaint filed July 8 in Jefferson County District Court.

The plaintiffs do not specify how much the settlement is worth, but do say that the current Jefferson County court action is intended only to enforce the settlement proceeds portion of the California proceedings.

The plaintiffs will be represented by Wayne A. Reaud of The Reaud Law Firm in Beaumont; L. DeWayne Layfield of the Law Office of L. DeWayne Layfield in Beaumont; Joseph C. Blanks of Doucette; Gilbert I. Low, Gary Neale Reger and Jack P. Carroll of Orgain, Bell and Tucker in Beaumont; and Hubert Oxford of Benckenstein and Oxford in Beaumont.

The case has been assigned to Judge Milton Shuffield, 172nd District Court.

Case No. D94-514
