Two Jefferson County residents have filed suit against the driver who they claim failed to yield the right-of-way at a stop sign.
Patrick Sinegar Jr. claims he was driving east in the 3200 block of 25th Street in Port Arthur on May 27 when defendant Maria Ramirez, who was driving north in the 2500 block of Fifth Avenue failed to yield the right-of-way at a stop sign governing the intersection and collided with Sinegar’s vehicle.
Because of the collision, Patrick Sinegar Jr. and Paige Sinegar suffered injuries to their necks, heads, back and arms; incurred medical costs; and experienced mental anguish, physical pain, suffering and disability, the suit states. They also lost their enjoyment of life, lost wages, lost their earning capacities and endured physical impairment, the complaint says.
Ramirez negligently failed to yield the right-of-way, failed to pay attention at an intersection, failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to control her speed and failed to timely apply her brakes.
In his complaint, the plaintiffs are seeking unspecified damages, plus pre- and post-judgment interest and other relief the court deems just.
