Man blames driver for causing his injuries during a collision

A Jefferson County man claims he suffered severe personal injuries after a driver failed to keep a proper lookout and struck his vehicle.

Earnest Charles Jackson filed a lawsuit Aug. 22 in Jefferson County District Court against Angela Marie Dotson.

In his complaint, Jackson claims he was driving in Jefferson County on Sept. 26, 2011, when Dotson failed to yield the right-of-way and struck his vehicle.

In addition to his injuries, Jackson experienced physical pain and mental suffering, incurred medical costs and lost earnings and his earning capacity because of the collision, the suit states. He also suffered physical impairment, the complaint says.

Jackson blames Dotson for causing the collision, saying she negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, drove too fast, failed to yield the right-of-way, lacked proper control and failed to timely apply her brakes.

In his complaint, Jackson is seeking a judgment in excess of the minimum jurisdictional limits of Jefferson County District Court, plus pre- and post-judgment interest, costs and other relief the court deems just.

Adam Nichols of Reaud, Morgan and Quinn in Beaumont will be representing him.

Judge Milton Shuffield, 136th District Court, has been assigned to the case.
