Orange County man sues Wal-Mart after slipping in water

An Orange County man has filed a lawsuit against Wal-Mart claiming he suffered injuries when he slipped and fell in a puddle of water.

Jack Bissey filed suit against Wal-Mart Stores Texas on Aug. 15 in Orange County District Court. The defendant removed the case to the Eastern District of Texas, Beaumont Division on Sept. 20. 

Bissey claims he was injured on Sept. 3, 2011, when he slipped and fell in a puddle of water on the floor in the area of the meat department of the Wal-Mart Store located at Edgar Brown Drive. According to the lawsuit, the puddle of water was created by the leaking roof.

The defendant is accused of negligence for failing to keep the premises in a reasonably safe condition, failing to inspect the premises to discover latent defects and failing to make safe any defects and failing to give an adequate warning of any dangers.

The plaintiff is seeking an award of damages for medical expenses, loss of earnings and earning capacity, physical impairment, physical impairment, physical pain, mental anguish, interest and court costs.
