A default judgment worth more than $9,000 has been entered in litigation over unpaid sprinkler services rendered.

As previously reported, S&S Sprinkler Co. filed suit against FNT Construction Services on Jan. 18 in Jefferson County District Court, seeking to collect more than $6,000 for services rendered.

Court records show that on March 18, S&S filed a motion for default judgment, stating that FNT has failed to answer the lawsuit.

The following day, Judge Donald Floyd, 172nd District Court, granted the motion, awarding S&S $6,670 in actual damages and $2,500 in attorney’s fees.

According to the lawsuit, on Aug. 14 S&S, at the request of FNT, provided goods and services associated with modification of the sprinkler system at Southeast Texas Cancer Treatment Center in Port Arthur.

“FNT thereby became obligated to pay S&S Sprinkler on demand the amount of money agreed upon and what said goods and services were reasonably worth,” the suit states. “After all lawful … payments, there remains due and owing of $6,670.”

The suit further accused the defendant of breaching its contract.

Beaumont attorney Bruce Partain of the Wells, Peyton, Greenburg & Hunt law firm represents the plaintiff.
