Motorist takes alleged drunk driver to court over League City accident

GALVESTON - Claiming she was in a two-vehicle accident with a drunk driver in League City six months ago, Texas resident Rosalyn Loftis has filed a lawsuit.

Recent court documents filed Oct. 22 in Galveston County Court at Law No. 3 allege Vancouver, Wash., resident Russell Phillip Reid caused said accident in one of the city's residential areas last April 6.

Both motorists reportedly were traveling in the 500 block of Magnolia Bend Street at the time of the subject event.

According to the original petition, Reid "failed to maintain a proper lookout" when his vehicle purportedly collided with that belonging to the plaintiff.

Loftis additionally asserts the defendant was behind the wheel "while intoxicated."

The suit does not specify whether the complainant sustained any injuries, but estimates the damages to her vehicle to be in the neighborhood of no more than $12,300.

She is represented by attorney Donald E. Hood of the Dickman Law Offices PC in Dallas.

The case has been assigned to Galveston County Court-at-Law No. 3 Judge Kerri M. Foley.
