Plaintiff Thomas Andrew Morrell, who sued Morgan Building & Spas seeking to recover back wages, has designated a new lead counsel.
As previously reported, the suit was filed Dec. 4, 2012, in Jefferson County District Court through attorney Matthew Marchak, who at the time was with the Beaumont firm MehaffyWeber.
Court records show that on April 26 a notice of designation of new lead counsel was filed, stating that Marchak is no longer with the firm and designating Wade Carpenter as new lead attorney.
According to the lawsuit, until September 2012, Morrell was an at-will employee of Morgan. He agreed to sell portable buildings for $4,058.97 a month.
“Plaintiff worked in the months of July, August and September without being paid,” the suit states. “Plaintiff has made repeated demand for the unpaid wages and defendant has failed to pay the earned wages to plaintiff.”
The suit accuses the defendant of breach of contract.
Morrell is seeking damages in an amount exceeding $15,000, plus attorney’s fees.
Judge Gary Sanderson, 6oth District Court, is assigned to the case.
