LUFKIN - An African-American worker has filed a lawsuit against a Lufkin business claiming that he was paid a lower hourly wage and a lower per diem because of his race.
Anthony D. Parks filed suit against Rush Enterprises Inc. on Nov. 15 in Eastern District of Texas, Lufkin Division.
Parks, a black male, was terminated by the defendant on Jan. 1, 2011. He claims that he was paid $17 per hour and was promised a per diem of $71 per day while working in Pennsylvania. According to his allegations, he was only paid a per diem of $46 per day, while Caucasian male employees were paid at higher rates per hour and a higher per diem.
The defendant is accused of race discrimination.
The plaintiff is seeking an award of damages for mental anguish, attorney’s fees, interest, punitive damages and court costs.
Parks is represented by Houston attorney Larry M. Champion.
A jury trial is requested.
