Texas City woman sued over accident near La Marque school

GALVESTON - An alleged two-vehicle accident in the parking lot of a La Marque school is the subject of a Harris County woman's lawsuit.

Recent court documents filed Nov. 19 in Galveston County District Court attribute the Dec. 1, 2011, incident to Texas City local Linda Preston.

Plaintiff Tanisha Woods explains that she was parked at Inter-City Elementary School just as the wreck occurred.

According to the suit, Preston reversed her vehicle into that of the complainant's and caused "fluids to leak out of the engine."

The defendant reportedly apologized to Woods and admitted fault.

Woods asserts the collision left her with "serious" injuries, specifically those to her back, head and hip.

She faults Preston for:

  • Failing to keep a proper lookout;

  • Failing to apply her brakes;

  • Failing to turn her vehicle to the left or right to avoid the collision;

  • Failing to keep her distance; and

  • Failing to keep her vehicle under control.

Consequently, the plaintiff seeks unspecified monetary damages and a jury trial.

Attorney Daniel Chung Lee of the C.Y. Lee Legal Group PLLC in Houston is representing Woods, and Galveston County 405th District Court Judge Michelle Slaughter is presiding over the litigation.
