Groves residents are suing seeking payment from State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Co.

Robert Black and Jo Ann Cook filed a lawsuit against State Farm on Nov. 12 in the District Court of Jefferson County.

According to the complaint, on Oct. 17, 2012, Black and Cook were involved in a motor vehicle collision, allegedly caused by a third party, where they sustained severe and disabling injuries.

The plaintiffs state Black was covered by an insurance policy issued by the defendant, which included coverage for uninsured and underinsured drivers. The insurance for the other driver was inadequate to compensate Black and Cook for their damages and they are seeking to recover payment from the defendant, according to the complaint.

Black and Cook are seeking an excess of $100,000 in damages.

They are being represented in the case by attorney Paul F. Ferguson Jr. of Provost Umphrey Law Firm LLP.

The case has been assigned to Judge Gary Sanderson, 60th District Court.
