Towing company sues former bookkeeper for alleged embezzlement

A business is suing its former bookkeeping for fraud on allegations she embezzled from the company.

Neff Brothers Automotive, doing business as Neff Brothers Towing, filed a lawsuit Feb. 19 in the Jefferson County District Court against Anna Boyette, citing fraud.

The lawsuit states the Beaumont-based, family-owned company hired Boyette to handle its finances. The company alleges she embezzled money for years before it was discovered in 2013, including writing checks to herself, making payable to “cash,” failing to pay taxes and failing to keep up-to-date accounting software to hide her activities, the complaint states.

The business is seeking damages between $500,000 and $1 million.

It is being represented by attorney Cody Rees.
